ARTIST BIO

PROFILE – JUNE RIPPER From a very early age, June has enjoyed drawing, having won an International Competition at 9 years of age. A few years ago she began studying Art with teacher, mentor, Carol Boothman; also attends Life Class and Portrait Group (having been a past Convenor of Portrait Group), with Waverley Arts Society. She has also gained instruction and guidance under notable artists such as Colin Johnson, David Chen, Barbara McManus, Ted Berry and Peter Smales. Being a member of Waverley Arts Society Inc., The Australian Guild of Realist Artists (AGRA) and The Pastel Society of Vic. Inc., allows her to attend many demonstrations and workshops by well known artists, to gain more information and techniques. June paints in pastel and oils. AWARDS June’s love of animals, birds and nature has lead her to receive 1st Prize, Best Animal Award, on two occasions. Numerous Awards have included Best Floral Award, 1st Prize and a Merit Award for Pastel, 1st Prize for Oil, two Viewer’s Choice Awards, an Encouragement Award and many Highly Commended Awards. 2008 received Best Pastel Award under $1000 – Mt. Waverley Art Show / Holy Family. 2010 received Best Oil – St. Edwards Art Show. People’s Choice Award – Waverley Arts Society. Best Work on Paper (Pastel Painting) $800/$1200 – Portland Art Show. Plus Highly Commended Awards. 2011 – Best Floral Award plus People’s Choice Award - St. Edwards Art Show. 2011 Best Painting of Show – Portland Art Show. Art works of Portraits and Life Class Studies have been featured in the Waverley Arts Society Inc. monthly publication. She has also been commissioned to paint many subjects, including loved pets, portraits, landscapes and flowers. Her paintings are in collections throughout Australia and overseas. GJRprofile212.doc
