ARTIST BIO

My Printmaking Practice is my 'raison d'être'. I work from my studio at Redbox Studios in Collingwood. Over the past 40 years I have been creating images that resonate with my 'inner life'. I did my formal printmaking studies in Paris. I was a student at a wonderful Art School called École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs. The Printmaking department was excellent. We were taught all the traditional techniques of French etching and the Art of print editioning. Our technician was Jacques Frelaut from the celebrated etching studio in Montmartre, Atelier Lacouriere et Frelaut. Jacques worked with artists from all over the world including Picasso, Henry Moore and Marc Chagall. Also the Australian printmakers George Baldessin, Raymond Arnold and Daniel Moynihan.

Each year I travel to Paris to work in etching studios as it is very important for me to keep my French artistic connections. Recently I worked at the Atelier Bo Halbirk and also the Atelier Sfumato. Each visit I spent one month working alongside French printmakers which open up opportunities to learn new techniques and bath in the world of 'Taille Douce'.

My etchings can be seen on Instagram #printmakerlauraosborne and this website as well.
